Mad Goats is the original founder of the “Akerselva River Kayak Tour”, which we started over 8 years ago! We have now taken 1000s of happy people down this amazing river, that flows through central Oslo . You can also join the tour in a packraft!

Mad Goats has floating saunas in Tjuvholmen, a central waterside district in Oslo, and in Moss, a beautiful seaside town bordering Oslofjord. We provide sauna memberships and private & public bookings.

At our kayak and packraft base in Sjoa, we offer whitewater kayaking and packrafting, both tours and våttkort courses – come visit us in the beautiful Heidal Valley!

In addition to all these incredible outdoor activities, Mad Goats teaches the 3hr and 2-day beginner våttkort kayak courses in central Oslo (introkurs and grunnkurs) and runs guided kayak tours along the Oslo waterfront and out to the islands, and operates self-service SUP and kayak rentals. We have 3 central locations in Bjørvika, Tjuvholmen and Lysaker where we run our kayak, SUP and sauna activities.

Public Sauna Sessions – Oslo & Moss

Akerselva River Kayak Tour

Our Akerselva River Kayak Tour “Akerselva kajakktur” is a one of a kind experience, paddling through the heart of Oslo, and out onto the Oslo Fjord. A fun adventure for the whole family or group of friends, that you can laugh about for years to come! No kayaking experience is required on this beginner friendly kayak tour. We guarantee fun and excitement on the river, seeing Oslo from a completely new perspective, followed by big smiles once back on land - and this is why it’s known as the best kayaking trip in Oslo - “Catch you on the water!”

3hr Våttkort Introduction (introkurs) to Sea Kayaking Course – Bjørvika, Oslo

3-hr NPF Våttkort Introkurs in central Oslo with fun and experienced instructors. This is a beginner kayak course (nybegynner kajakkurs), so you will learn to kayak in a safe, slow-paced and fun environment. Bring your friends or come meet new ones! Once you get your våttkort you can rent kayaks from us from our locations along the Oslo waterfront. All our våttkort kayak lessons (våttkort kurs) can be bought as gift cards and booked for private events (privat gruppe).

Private Sauna Rental – Oslo & Moss

Waterside self-service floating saunas in Oslo & Moss! A perfect activity for birthdays, bachelor parties and team building events. Shared adversity, fun and excitement is guaranteed. Jumping into ice cold water, followed by warming up in a hot sauna with a beautiful view out onto the fjord?! - happiness and health awaits you!

Self-service Paddle Board Rental – Tjuvholmen, Oslo

Stand-up paddling hire (SUP-Brett Utleie) in Aker Brygge & Tjuvholmen. This is a beginner friendly water activity for the whole family. Enjoy exploring the waterfront while stand up paddle boarding on Oslofjord! Make sure to check out the canal between the Astrup Fearnley Museum and stop for a quick swim at the Tjuvholmen Sjøbad!

Kayak Tours of Oslofjord starting from Central Oslo

Guided sea kayaking tours (kajakk turer) along the Oslo city waterfront and out to the Oslo islands. All equipment provided and no kayaking experience required. These kayak tours range from 2 - 4hrs and are suitable for ages 12yr +. All kayaking equipment is provided by us, so just show up with a smile and an adventurous attitude, because it’s time to explore the Oslofjord By kayak!

16hr Våttkort Beginner Course (Grunnkurs) in Sea Kayaking – Overnight – Lysaker

Overnight NPF Våttkort beginner kayak course (Grunnkurs i havkajakk) on Oslo Fjord. This is a beginner kayak course that runs over two-days, which includes camping overnight on an island on Inner Oslofjord. We also run the same course without the camping element if this suits you better - check out “beginner course 2x days - Lysaker”. Private beginner kayak courses (Grunnkurs i havkajakk) on request.

Self-service Kayak Rental – Bjørvika, Oslo

Self-service kayak rental (kajakk utleie) in central Oslo. Book online, get a code and pick up a kayak and all equipment - it is that easy! Remember that at least one person in the group needs their våttkort. You can get your våttkort with us on our 3hr introduction to kayaking course held in central Oslo.

Packrafting Tours on Akerselva and Sjoa, Norway

We run packraft tours on Akerselva in Oslo from April to October and in Sjoa from June - September. Packrafting is a great way to explore Norwegian nature while feeling in control and stable on the water. Packrafts have opened up the possibility for people who otherwise feel inadequate to paddle whitewater to finally jump in a give it a go! Who knows, once you master the packraft and realise how good you really are then you might decide to try whitewater kayaking after all!
